   Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), through a hands on approach improves joint mobility and circulation.  It improves respiration by causing better breathing.  The overall effect is general improvement in health.  The immune system is strengthened and can fight infections and diseases more effectively.  The digestive, cardiovascular, kidneys and genital systems can acheive better function lowering the likelihood of heart attacks and stroke. Dr. Wanczyk works to lower high blood pressure through OMT and nutritional guidance. 

 The following are some of the conditions that are regularly treated by Dr. Wanczyk who has been in practice for more than twenty-five years, and are listed by age but are not limited to the group.  The approach is geared to the individual to include nutrition guidance and recommendations  for indicated lifestyle changes. 

INFANTS: feeding, difficultiesand constipation, spitting up, night time restlessness, colic, head tilt (torticollis), flattened head (plagiocephaly), bowed legs and other deformities of the skeleton.

 CHILDREN: difficulty walking or running, night time leg (growing) pains, foot pains, asthma, recurrent ear infections, bed wetting, scoliosis, constipation, and sleep disturbances. 

ADOLESCENTS: Dr. Wanczyk successfully treats many of the pain syndromes that effect children and adolescents.  Many are caused by neck and back strains and sprains.  She successfully treats problems of the knee and elbow joints, recurrent dislocation of the shoulder, headache, menstrual cramps, and pain in the abdomen.

ADULTS: Middle and lower back pain, and sciatica.  Fibromyalgia is general or local body pains that may be caused by poor function of the immune system.  Dr. Wanczyk's treatments that help to improve the immune system often decreases the pain of fibromyalgia, spinal asymmetry and scoliosis, jaw pain, tingling or numbness in the arms or legs, nausea and back pains of pregnancy, menopause and fatigue.

TECHNIQUES (appropriate to age and complaint during the visit): Dr. Wanczyk's treatment techniques target specific areas of the musculoskeletal system to relieve the patient's condition.  Many of her techniques were originally developed by Dr. Robert Fulford, who is an expert in diseases caused by dysfunction ot the musculo-skeletal system.  The Fulford Percussor enhances the treatment effect by using vibratory energy to strengthen the body's defenses and ability to handle stress.



Dr. Wanczyk received her B.S. cum laude from the University of Massachusetts and earned a Massachusetts teacher's certificate. She taught biology in Hingham Massachusetts.  Dr. Wanczk also holds a Master's degree in Food Science & Nutrition from the University of Massachusetts. She  is a graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic medicine, now Midwestern University,  and completed a one year general rotation at the Chicago Osteopathic and Olympia Fields Medical Centers.  Her specialty training in Pediatrics was completed at Rush Presbyterian  Medical Center in Chicago. 

 Dr. Wanczyk  is board certified  in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
